Y4 Flight Investigations – STEM Learning

As part of our Learning Journey, we used Bear Grylls jumping out of a ‘flying car’ as inspiration to find out more about flight. We started off by thinking about the forces involved: thrust, drag, lift and gravity, and how these are affected by the mass of the object trying to fly. We then investigated […]

Y4 South Yorkshire Games Showcase Event

We were very fortunate to be invited to bring 15 children to this taster event – one of only 20 primary schools in the whole of South Yorkshire. As you will be able to see from the photos below, we had a go at 10 different sports, so it was a pretty full-on day of […]

Y3 & Y4 Panathlon

Y4 entered into the school Panathlon event, taking two teams to Concord Sports Centre to compete against other Sheffield Schools in a range of mutli-skill zones. We not only had a great time, but came second overall and brought home a lovely trophy. This result then meant we were invited to bring along 8 players […]

Y4 World Book Day

Y4 – P4C Through History and English

After finding out about the Greek Myth King Midas, the children were asked to reflect upon the question, ‘What would I wish for if I had one wish?’ Using Philosophy for Children strategies, children were able to build on one another’s ideas and also challenge the wishes of some children. It was a pleasure to […]

Y4 Bread Baking

For the final piece of learning in our ‘Food for Thought’ learning journey, Y4 spent a week studying bread, including where it comes from and how it is made. We started off by finding out about the many types of bread that are found around the world, then discovered how the different parts of a […]

On the Last Day Before Christmas…

… my true love sent to me a fantastic whole-school assembly! Every child (and adult) in school came together in the junior hall to enjoy and join in with performances from the Junior Choir and the Y2 Nativity. This lovely event was completed with a full rendition of the 12 Days of Christmas, with each […]

KS2 Citizenship Awards

This week has seen the termly presentation of our ‘Citizenship Awards’. As the name suggests, these are given to children who have been great examples of living the school values of resilience, resourcefulness, creativity and kindness. As you can see from their faces, the recipients are rightly proud of their awards.

Y4 Winter Walk

To end an excellent first term in Y4, we spent our penultimate day before the Christmas holiday undertaking a 10 kilometre walk from school, up to Totley Moss and Blacka Moor, then back to school. As you can see, the views were NOT amazing as the weather was pretty awful. Fortunately, Y4 children (and teachers) […]

Y4 RE – Christ Church Dore Visit

As part of our RE unit of Christianity, Y4 were invited to visit Christ Church in the village. As well as seeing inside the church, we learned about Christian Christmas beliefs, including what the advent candles represent, and reminded ourselves of the Nativity story. We explored the church through a ‘clue hunt’, then Andy asnwered […]
