Y4 South Yorkshire School Games Sports Showcase

15 of our Y4 children had the absolute privilege of representing Sheffield at the very first South Yorkshire School Games Sports Showcase. Held at the English Institute of Sport, along with many other competitions in the first South Yorkshire Finals event of the year, we were able to take part in 10 ‘less common’ sports. Six hours of moving later, we had scootered, skipped, danced, problem-solved, boxed, freestyle footballed, and had a go at archery, tennis, taekwondo and kinball (the giant red and pink balls in the photos).

Some of the zones were hosted by professional athletes, so we had coaching from European and World champions, world record holders, and Olympic team members. Some of us even got the chance to hold the bow of the European archery champion.

It was an amazing day, and we felt really lucky to have been invited to attend. Many, many thanks to all the School Games organisers and event hosts for giving us a truly unforgettable experience.
