In outdoor learning this week we headed on a tour of the grounds to see what kinds of birdlife we could spot in advance of the Great British Birdwatch happening this weekend.
The children had to exercise a lot of skills: observation, regulating themselves so they can stay calm to not scare the birds, matching the birds they saw with our checklist and remembering or reading the names.
Adults helped confirm any sightings. We definitely saw crows, blackbirds, woodpiegeons and some very noisy bluetits. Unconfirmed sightings: wood peckers, eagles and pterodons!
It was a beautiful morning. Mr Smith is not a fully trained photographer, as these wilflife shots will confirm.
