During May and June, Y4 have been involved in several rounds of the Yorkshire Dynamo Cricket Competition. We started off at Hollinsend in May with two teams, one of whom managed to qualify for the South Yorkshire round of the competition. The other team finished second in their group, which for a team who had many players just starting their cricket journey.
In the South Yorkshire round of the competition, we managed to win every game quite convincingly, qualifying us for the Yorkshire-wide event.
The Yorkshire event was held at Headingley Cricket Ground, where we represented South Yorkshire against schools from North, East and West Yorkshire. We drew one game, lost one, and tied with the eventual champions to first third in the county. In one our first match, one of our bowlers took four wickets with his first four balls. We think this is probably the first time in all of the years that Headingley that someone has achieved this incredible feat.
