Pre-School

Spring Term Week Seven

This week we have been thinking about growing and looking for signs of Spring amongst the wind and the rain! We have planted seeds for French beans and talked about what plants need to grow.

Pre-School Spring Term Week Six

This week we have been thinking about love and friendship. We read ‘Guess How Much I Love You’ and thought about who we love and how we can show that we love them. We’ve been making heart shapes for cards and with salt dough. It’s been a wet week so we’ve been enjoying jumping in […]

Pre-School Spring Term Week Five

What a busy week! We have been learning about Chinese New Year – making dragons, playing instruments and doing finger painting. We also read the story ‘The Tomten’ and made little Tomtens. We wanted to make a fox puppet for the story so we have been busy peeling carrots to make a natural orange dye. […]

Pre-School Spring Term Week Four

This week was the RSPB bird watch so we went out to the wildlife garden to see if we could spot any birds. We also did a bird hunt with pictures of birds to learn the names of some common garden birds. We sat still and listened for the different sounds birds make. We’ve also […]

Pre-School Spring Term Week Three

We read the story ‘The Bear’s Winter House’ and thought about different animal homes and which animals hibernate. We made our own houses for teddy bears. We’ve also been looking for worms, washing our wellies and filling the fire bucket ready for our fire.

Pre-School Spring Term Week Two

This week we explored the story ‘Ten on a Sled’, where 10 different animals leave a sledge, one at a time and then all come back at the end! We had good fun re-telling the story and learning about the different animals. We made mini sledges, large cardboard sledges and even a wooden sledge using […]

Pre-School Spring Term Week One

Happy New Year! This week, we have welcomed our new starters and settled everyone back in to Pre-School. We’ve been enjoying exploring our continuous provision, including the mud kitchen, water play and the mud pit. We were even treated to some snow on Friday!

Autumn Term Week Ten

This week the children have continued to think about hibernation and we also started to think about our other woodland friends who may need warm beds as we move into winter. They started the week by making clay hedgehogs, and building homes for the hedgehogs to hibernate in during the winter. Later in the week […]

Autumn Term Week Nine

The children started the week talking about the firework celebrations they had been too and describing the sounds and sights of the fire works they had seen. They enjoyed fire working dancing, using ribbons and creating movements in time with the fire work sounds. They also used used musical instruments to make the sounds of […]

Autumn Term Week Eight

It’s lovely to be back at and we all returned happy and refreshed. We also have a new starter this week, who the children welcomed into our pre-school family. This week has been about celebrations. The children learnt about Diwali, the five-day Festival of Lights, celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the […]
