For our first English learning this year, Y4 studied the Spiderwick Chronicles, which tells of 3 children who move to new house and discover a world of strange and fantastic creatures. We had to make some spells so that we could also gain ‘The Sight’, and be able to see into this magical world.
Once we had this power, we took our Seeing Stones on to King’s Croft and used our art skills to sketch what we saw.
When we were back in the classroom we used watercolours to add more detail to our sketches. Then we wrote about our creatures, taking care to describe them in a detailed and interesting way.
The results are pretty impressive…
Finally, we had to help our helpful House Brownie Thimbletack save his woodland cousins from turning into boggarts by recreating their ruined village.
