Y5 Winter Walk

Y5 went on a winter walk in the local countryside – tracing the borders of the ancient, Anglo-Saxon kingdoms of Mercia and Northumbria. We walked 10 kilometers through some quite rough terrain and up some impressive hills!

We started off walking around the local area: finding place names and landmarks with links to the Anglo-Saxons before following Limb Brook (which marked the old border) up through Ecclesall Woods and the Limb Valley.

Staff and pupils had a great time and the children dealt well with the distance, the hills and all the mud! A great start to the last week of term.
