Schools Cross-Country – Weeks 2 and 3

The last two weekends have seen growing numbers of children participating in the cross country events. Again we’ve had some great performances individually, with several children finishing in the first 20 in their respective age groups. The team event is also going very well, with all teams with at least 4 children competing having combined […]

FS2 Spin Drums

What a windy week! This week our learning took us outside where we observed the trees blowing and heard the leaves rustling. We marched up to the Horse Chestnut Tree, and what gems did we find? Conkers…. and so many of them! We gathered them up and brought them back to our classroom, pockets bulging. […]

FS2 Mr Muddy Face

We met another of Mr Owl’s friends this week – Mr Muddy Face. He can be tricky to spot, but if you look really carefully then you might just see….clay for a face, acorns for eyes, feathers for ears and a big shiny brown conker for his nose…yep that’s him. Captivated by his presence, the […]

Y4 SpiDOREwick Chronicles

For our first English learning this year, Y4 studied the Spiderwick Chronicles, which tells of 3 children who move to new house and discover a world of strange and fantastic creatures. We had to make some spells so that we could also gain ‘The Sight’, and be able to see into this magical world. Once […]

This week the children met Mr Owl – a wise old thing who lives among the tress at Dore. He told them a story about his friends ‘the pebble people’. Challenged with a hunt to find them, the children explored the school grounds excitedly. Only, when they found them, they discovered that the pebble people […]

The children were challenged to go and find these friends, only when they found them, they had no faces. Luckily the children used their creative […]

Y4 Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Art

To commemorate the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Year Four spent some time in Health and Wellbeing thinking about our feelings and emotions during the difficult and sad period of national mourning. We made links with our ‘Zones of Regulation’, which use colours to represent feelings. Then, in Art and Design, we used […]

Outdoor Learning with Miss Bradley

This year the children in Foundation Stage will be learning outdoors with Miss Bradley. Each week there will be a different focus/theme where children will develop their kindness, creativity, resilience and resourcefulness. We kicked off the first week with parachute games, getting to know one another and sharing stories in the sunshine.

Y4 Friendship Photos

To start the year, Y4 spent one of our first Health and Wellbeing lessons thinking about friendship, and what makes a great friend. We then went outside and took photos of our friendships in action.

As always at the end of every full term, we celebrated great learning and behavioural attitudes by awarding Citizenship Awards to one child in each year group who epitomises our school values of Resilience, Resourcefulness, Kindness and Creativity on a daily basis. Every time we hadn out these awards it is a such a hard […]
